Financial Inclusion Gender Gap (2024):

In 2024, the gender gap remained at 1% as 96% of females are still financially included versus 97% of males

Formally Served Males and Females (2024):

The formally served rate for females increased to 90% up from 73% in 2020 and from 81,3% to 94% for males.

Use of Non-Bank Formal Channels (2024):

Both males and females are increasingly using non-bank formal channels, especially mobile money, which is driving inclusion

A higher proportion of unbanked females (73%) are using other formal channels compared to 67% of males

Banking Services Usage (2024):

Males are more likely to use bank services, with usage rates 10% higher than females (17% for males versus 7% for females).

Transactional accounts (either Mobile money or Bank account) 2024:

Even though the gender gap remained at 9%, access to transactional account for female increased from 62% in 2020 to 73% in 2024 and from 71% to 82% for males

Extension of MFIs services (2024):

A remarkable extension of MFI services is registered as they are reaching 40% of females from 8% in 2020 and reach 60% of males from 11% in 2020.

2024 Parliamentary election results: Women 63.75%, Men 36.25%

The Senate has made history with a 26-member composition featuring equal gender representation 50 % male and 50% female (13 men and 13 women) from 34.6% female and 64.4% male reaffirming Rwanda’s position as a global leader in women’s political participation.

This achievement aligns with Rwanda's constitution, which provides for women to occupy at least 30%  in decision-making organs
